   . Whether you want to link a physical Hop Fastpass to your iPhone or create a brand new virtual Hop card, you'll need to first download Hop Fastpass from the App Store.

   • The Hop Fastpass app supports Adult, Honored Citizen, and Youth fares.
   • It's not yet possible to connect the Honored Citizen photo ID, Low-Income fare, LIFT, 1-Year Pass, or fare cards issued by your employer.

   Make Google Pay your default tap-and-pay wallet. Even if you typically use another mobile wallet like Samsung Pay, you'll need to make Google Pay the primary tap-and-pay wallet to pay for rides with Hop. Here's how:

   • Open your Android's Settings (the gear icon in the app drawer).
   • Tap Connected devices or Connections.
   • Tap NFC and payment or Connection preferences.
   • Toggle the "NFC" switch to the On position.
   • If you're using a Samsung Galaxy, tap Tap & Pay and select Google Pay as your default method.
   • If you're using a different model, tap the back button until you're back to Settings, navigate to Apps & notifications > Advanced > Default apps > Tap & Pay > Payment default and then select Google Pay as your default payment method.

   Open the Hop Fastpass app. It’s the blue icon that says "Hop" inside. You'll find it in the app drawer.

   • If you have a plastic Hop Fastpass card and want to link it to the app, tap CREATE ACCOUNT instead.

   Fill out the account creation form. Setting up an account requires your full name, email address, and the creation of a password and 4-digit PIN. You'll also need to choose a security question you can use to access your account if you ever forget your password.

Adding Money to a Virtual Hop Card

   Launch the Hop Fastpass app. It's the blue icon that says "Hop" in white letters. You'll find its icon in the app drawer.

   Tap Load Value below the card balance. Choose this option to add a flat amount to the card one time.

   • If you want Hop to automatically load a specific amount once existing Hop funds are depleted, slide the "Auto-Load" switch to the On position, select the amount, and then process your payment.

   Select an amount. Once selected, you'll see a subtotal and a list of payment methods.

   Select a payment method. Select Google Pay to add funds from your mobile wallet, or New Payment Method to enter another card.

Paying with a Virtual Hop Card

   Locate the green and black Hop Fastpass card reader. You'll find Hop Fastpass readers at Max stations, on the doors of Portland Streetcars, and inside Trimet and C-Tran buses.

   • You'll need to use the Hop Fastpass reader every time you board a bus, train, or streetcar in the Hop system.

   Unlock your Android's screen. You don't have to open any particular apps, just make sure the screen is unlocked.

   Hold your phone over the lower black section of the reader. Once the virtual card is read, a checkmark will appear on the reader's screen.

   Show proof-of-fare if requested. If you are approached by a fare inspector for proof of payment, simply open the Hop Fastpass app and tap Show Proof of Fare at the top of the screen.
