How to Wirelessly Charge Your Android

Wireless charging is one of the many new innovations currently being introduced in the market. This feature lets users charge their respective devices without the hassle of dangling cables. While it’s very convenient, only modern phones happen to have this feature, where a wireless charger has already been included in the package. However, don’t go throwing out your old device just yet, for there is still a way to wirelessly charge your Android, even if your phone doesn’t have this feature built in.

Wirelessly Charging Old Android Phones

  1. How.com.vn English: Step 1 Purchase a Qi receiver.
A Qi receiver is a special kind of phone accessory used on devices to allow it to receive induction signals from a wireless charger, which in turn, refills its battery power.
    • You can buy a Qi receiver from your local gadget or mobile phone accessory shop for around USD$8 to USD$10.
  2. How.com.vn English: Step 2 Purchase a wireless charger.
A wireless charger sends induction signals to Qi-enabled devices or receiver to charge its battery without the use of any cable. You can get one for around USD$25 to USD$50, and it comes with a power cable and a charging mat or pad.
    • Some of the popular wireless charges are the RAVPower Wireless Qi Charger and the Nexus Qi Charger.

  3. How.com.vn English: Step 3 Plug in the Qi receiver.
Qi receivers go into your Android’s micro USB port. Take the short cord of the receiver and plug it into your phone’s charging or the micro USB port.
  4. How.com.vn English: Step 4 Plug in the wireless charger.
Take the power cable of the wireless charger you purchased and connect it to the charging pad (though some models of the RAVPower already have the cable attached to the pad). Plug the other end into a power outlet.
  5. How.com.vn English: Step 5 Place your Android on top of the charging pad.
Have the Qi receiver lie between the surface of the charging pad and the back of your phone. Once the receiver comes into contact with the pad, your Android should light up, notifying you that it’s charging.
  6. How.com.vn English: Step 6 Wait for the charging to complete.
This should take around the same time as it would if you charged your phone via a wired charger.
    • Once your battery is full, unplug the wireless charging pad from the power outlet, to save electricity.

No, because it is much simpler to leave the base plugged in on your desk, and you can just place your phone onto the base. The base is not meant to move around with the phone.
