Species list and parenthetical authorship

edit

All the listed species have parenthetical authorship, including the species described by the same person in the same year as the genus; "Balanoglossus clavigerus (Delle Chiaje, 1829)". The parentheses are not cosmetic. They indicate that a species has been moved to a genus other than the one in which it was originally described. While it's possible Delle Chiaje described B. clavigerus in a different genus early in 1829 and later that year erected a new genus for it, it seems unlikely. Nor is it likely that EVERY species of Balanoglossus described since 1829 was first placed in another genus. Most of the parentheses around authors here need to be removed. The species listed under Balanoglossus in the Ptychoderidae article have the expected mix of parenthetical and non-parenthetical authorship. I'd follow Ptychoderidae for parentheses, but the species lists need to be reconciled; the list at the family article has species not found on the list at the genus article and vice versa.Plantdrew (talk) 16:29, 29 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
