editThe following article is from The Times Friday 14 March 1902, page 8, first column:
"Vessels launched-The launch has taken place from the yard of the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company (Limited), at Govan, of the twin-srew steamer Panama, the first of two vessels which the company has in hand for the Pacific Steam Company , of Liverpool. The dimensions of the steamer are - length, 400ft.; breadt, 52 ft.; and depth, 29ft. The Panama is a first class mail and passenger steamer, built specially for the trade between Liverpool and the West Coast of South America. Accommodation is provided for about 130 first class passengers and 200 steerage."Takvaal 15:15, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
