umbrella organisation for major junior hockey in Canada
The Canadian Hockey League (or CHL) is an umbrella organization for junior ice hockey leagues in Canada. There are three leagues with the CHL: the Western Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League, and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The three leagues have a total of sixty teams, fifty-two in Canada and eight in the United States. At the end of the leagues' season, the league champions play for the Memorial Cup, as the champion of the CHL.
