Shahnon Ahmad
Malaysian writer and politician
Shahnon bin Ahmad (January 13, 1933 – December 26, 2017) was a Malaysian writer, a National Laureate, and a former Member of Parliament serving from 1999 through 2004. He was awarded with the National Literary Award in 1982. He was also a Professor Emeritus at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang. He was born in Kedah, Malaysia.
One of his most famous books, Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan ("No Harvest but a Thorn", 1966) tells about a peasant family fighting not for life.
Ahmad died of bladder cancer in Kajang, Malaysia on December 26, 2017 at the age of 84.[1]
